Camping with the boys!

Saturday, after Tyler's baseball game, we headed to Spanish Fort to camp out with the cub scouts! We loaded up Jeffrey's SUV, and (i mean loaded), and set out to sleep under the stars on a civil war battlefield! How exciting! I think, at times, I was more excited than Tyler or Jeffrey...but we all had a great time. We set up our tents and (shh...and our air mattress') and went about our business. The pack went on a hike with the scout leaders for about 2 hours and got to see so much and learn a lot about what happened way back when. When they returned, they set up a bon fire and each scout began to tell everyone about their favorite part of the trip so far. Each family had their own fire ring with a grill plate on it, to cook dinner for their families, so Jeffrey taught Tyler how to roast his own hot dogs! Tyler loved it....great family time! After dinner, it was time for S'mores and yes they were so yummy! On Sunday, the three of us toured the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta that runs along side of the battlefield. It was beautiful! Here is a picture of one of the trees that the soliders dug out to hide in during the war....(Jeffrey is 6'5, to give you an indication of how big the space below the roots of the tree are)So I am having trouble putting the pictures in the correct places, but as you can see...here are a few of them. Enjoy!

Double "D's" Baby!!!

Lol! Several months ago, I blogged about the fact that two of my best friends were pregnant and due within a few days of each other....well now we have babies! March 1, Anna gave birth to Douglas Karrigan Faggard, Jr., and I was the only friend who knew about the secret delivery! Aunt "Tissy" is always there for the baby deliveries! : ) Here is my sweet, sweet new "nephew"...

Then on March 14th, Hilliary gave birth to Deigan Edward Sanders! Deigan is taking up residence in the NICU at the hospital after a very tramatic delivery and then ingesting his miconium and having to be placed on oxygen. He decided to take a break from his feedings too, resulting in a feeding tube having to be placed in his stomach, which means he will have to stay in the NICU for at least a few more days. But, Hilliary and Brian are handling everything very well and we can't wait to get to meet Deigan in person! Here he is.....

I'm totally a baby person, and still awaiting the arrivals of Melissa and Shane's baby boy Taylor in May and Jessica and Cory's twins, Marcus & Mackenzie, in June!! I'm so excited!!

Love to all,

~me

Dinosaurs!!

Tyler had another therapy appointment this morning, which means that once again, he could not go to school.....so, I decided to pick up my student passes to the Explorium and we spent 2 1/2 hours exploring the dinosaurs, the human body, a chemical lab, and all the other cool stuff in the back wing. We had a blast! He made a comment that he wished Jeffrey could go with us, so in good girlfriend fashion...the three of us are going back after school one day next week! Here are some of the pictures.....there is one that actually spits water at you when you walk by, and Tyler got hit by him! : )

I can't wait to go back!!

and we danced.....

Last night, Jeffrey and I attended the Lashe's Mardi Gras Ball and we had the best time! It was his first time going and, well, I am a seasoned vetern.. ha ha! He looked so handsome in his tails!

When I walked into the room, all dressed up, he literally gasped and said "wow"! : ) I wish we would have had someone at the hotel take a picture of us, before the winds got to me and my hair! His mom wanted to see us dressed up, so we high tailed it to West Mobile and she took a few of these pix for us. She then told me, how perfect her son and I are together and gave me her official blessing!

We finally made it back downtown to watch my best friend Ashley in the parade; however, it was too cold for us to stand in, so, we waited inside the Civic Center for almost two hours with another couple in our group until the ball started. They had an 80's cover band from Birmingham playing in the main ballroom, and we danced the night away jamming to old schooll music. I think their name was something like Fly Away River, well I know it had River in it...lol! One of the guitar players looked like Bret Micheals and another one looked like one of the WWE All Stars......but they were awesome.

Finally some pictures...

Friday night date night! We went to see Dear John, and I cried practically the whole time. The movie was so good and I highly recommend that you see it (with a box of tissues). So we finally had some pictures of us taken before we left...here are a few of the good ones!

The race is on...

On Sunday, the 31st, we spent an afternoon watching Tyler and fellow scouts race in the Pinewood Derby. Jeffrey and I had the most fun watching him. Right before Christmas, Tyler's teacher, Mr. Clay called me and asked if he could help Tyler build his race car. As a former scout, he took home the gold every year in the Derby; therefore, I could not say no! Tyler was so excited to get started and stayed after school a few times to work on the car. By the time they were finished, he had a black race car with orange and red flames on it...looks pretty cool! While we were there, we were told that one parent had to accompany their scout to the race line....I was promptly informed that I could take pictures, because he wanted Jeffrey up there with him! Jeffrey was thrilled to be up there and I enjoyed seeing them bond. The first set of races, Tyler had to race against his age group....and he placed 1st and won a medal. After all teh age groups raced and named their 1st place winners, he had to race against those boys and wound up winning the whole derby!!! We were all so excited, and the look on Mr. Clays face was priceless! Here are my boys...
these are the boys in his den that he had to race against to get the medal...Jeff was checking things out... : )
Tyler and his 1st place medal for winning the first half!

Tyler showing off his trophy and medal with Mr. Clay! We are all so proud! Way to go Tyler!! Next up, Tyler will have to defend his title in the county wide race!
